It seems I’m regularly reminded that I’m required to forgive my enemies, pray for them and bless them. My former day care provider even lectured my youngest son on forgiveness, contrary to my attempts to instruct him on safety. We are reminded and reprimanded that we are to forgive as we’ve been forgiven and to remember that those who hurt us are simply wounded themselves and in need of a Savior.
We are, in essence, asked to wink at sin and call evil good as they call our good evil.
Oh, that Hello Kitty’s mama would preach a Sunday or two. Her instruction is needed, “Not everyone is as nice as they appear to be. Beware of those who only pretend to be nice and really mean to harm you.”
